A Multinational Conference on Migration and Migration Policy

The Maastricht University School of Governance is currently organising a conference “Migration- A World in Motion: A Multinational Conference on Migration and Migration Policy” in conjunction with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the University of Maryland School of Public Policy and the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management to be held February 18-20, 2010. Internal and transnational migration is a policy issue of fast-growing political, economic, social and diplomatic importance in the twenty-first century.

 

This conference will look at international migration from an academic and policy perspective as well as views from different continents and from a range of disciplines. The conference is designed to attract a worldwide audience, including academics and professionals from universities, think tanks, government agencies, the private sector, civil society, and beyond. The main themes that will be covered (but are not limited to) are: Migration, Remittances and Development, Circular/Return Migration, Highly skilled migration, Migration flows and patterns and Immigration, Integration and Citizenship. A few of the confirmed speakers include: Prof. George Borjas (Harvard University), Prof. Roberto Suro, Prof. John O. Oucho (University of Warwick), Prof. Aderanti Adepoju and Prof. Binod Khadria.
