UKEA Elections notice E-mail

The current members of the Executive Committee have performed their responsibilities voluntarily to the end of their mandatory two years which is now expiring by June 1st 2010.

This letter is therefore to notify you that all the above mentioned positions shall, according to Article 8,  fall vacant on the 1st June 2010. Registered members of UKEA are hereby invited to apply for the vacant positions and campaign for the same

On April 4, 2009, UKEA held its Annual General Meeting organized as a workshop to address the importance of empowering migrant communities for development. During the AGM, we were also able to successfully launch our Strategic Plan 2009-2011 that seeks to be the guiding instrument for UKEA’s programmes in the coming three years.

In the past year, our new executive board has been hard at work to strategise and plan the way forward for Ukea. The result of this is a new Ukea Strategic Plan 2009-2011. This was unveiled during the AGM and is available for download now.

Vacancies

Dear Wanakenya,

 

The forthcoming Annual General meeting and elections for UKEA executive board to be held on Saturday June 5, 2010 in The Hague. After the elections, there will be a party to celebrate Madaraka day at café t Syndicaat. The address is Nieuwe Molstraat 10, 2512 BK The Hague. If you are interested in vying for any positions within the board, you are requested to submit your details including:

 

1. your full name and your address in the Netherlands,
2. A short biography of yourself,
3. A short motivation why you wish to be elected to this position indicating your competencies and skills and interests and your ideas for the association.
4. Submit your application before May 26th.

 

Additionally, in order to qualify as a candidate or to exercise your right to vote, you must be a fully registered and paid up member of UKEA. Please ensure your full registration by submitting your annual membership contribution of 25 Euros to the account ING- 4236853 before the day of the elections to avoid disappointment. All executive board positions are open for contestation as follows:

 

1. Chairman

2. Deputy Chairman and programmes coordinator

3. Secretary

4. Assistant secretary

5. Treasurer

6. PR and events coordinator

7. Women’s coordinator

8. Assistant women’s coordinator

9. Students coordinator

10. Youth Coordinator.

 

We would like to urge all Kenyans in the Netherlands who wish to see a vibrant, active and meaningful association that will provide tangible benefits for the Kenyan diaspora and also contribute to development back home to step forward and take up leadership positions in this organisation.
