On April 4, 2009, UKEA held its Annual General Meeting organized as a workshop to address the importance of empowering migrant communities for development. During the AGM, we were also able to successfully launch our Strategic Plan 2009-2011 that seeks to be the guiding instrument for UKEA’s programmes in the coming three years.
More than 50 participants took part with invited guests from several partner organizations in the field of migration in development such as COS Utrecht, Oxfam Novib, Diaspora Forum for Development (DFD), Pearl of Africa Foundation (Uganda) and Foundation ASDA (Ghana).
We also had representation from the Kenyan Embassy to the Netherlands. Their presence was aimed at sharing experiences from other migrant organisations, building bridges and partnerships with the goal of informing, educating and strengthening the capacity of UKEA members and the organisation in general.
The summary report of the workshop’s objectives, proceedings and outcomes is available here.
